Orders & Availability
All bespoke orders should be placed as early as possible to avoid disappointment. Items advertised for sale on specific dates are sold on a first come, first served basis. This also applies to any cancellations where payment was intended in cash. If we do not hear from you within 24 hours of confirming availability, the item will be offered to the next customer.
Deposits & Payments
Some orders require a deposit to secure the booking. Deposits must be paid via bank transfer only (no cash or PayPal). If a required deposit is not received within 24 hours, the order will not be booked in unless a later deposit date has been agreed in advance. Deposits are generally non-refundable. The deposit for large cakes is a minimum of £25.
Cancellations
If you need to cancel a bespoke order, this must be done before the order is started — typically at least 2 weeks before the bake date. If any items have already been specially made or ingredients purchased specifically for your order, the cost of these will be deducted from your deposit.
Cake Shed (Self-Serve)
The Cake Shed is self-serve and payment must be made before leaving the premises. WiFi details are available inside the shed. If you are unable to access this, please speak into the camera to let us know or knock on the door so we are aware.
Allergy Information
All items from the Cake Shed are not suitable for anyone with allergies to any of the 14 main allergens. Although all products are labelled, we are a home-based business and use many allergens daily, so cross-contamination is always possible. Anyone with an allergy must inform us at the point of booking. As a general rule, we do not accept gluten-free, dairy-free, or nut-free orders due to risk. However, if this is a lifestyle preference rather than an allergy, this can be discussed.
Delivery
Delivery availability and fees will be discussed at the time of booking. Orders over £15 may be eligible for delivery, subject to availability. Charges apply outside of Leiston. Please provide your delivery location when booking so fees can be confirmed.
Freshness & Storage
All items are best enjoyed on the day of purchase. Most bakes (excluding sponge cakes) will stay fresh for up to 7 days if sealed in an airtight container and kept cool or refrigerated. Sponge cakes should be kept airtight and cool (not refrigerated) and are best consumed within 2 days.
Collection & Responsibility
Once an item has been collected or delivered, responsibility passes to the customer. All cakes are assembled correctly before leaving us. If collecting, you are responsible for safe transport. We strongly recommend placing cakes in the front passenger footwell with air conditioning on. Do not hold on your lap or place in the boot unless absolutely necessary. We cannot be held liable for damage once the item has left our care.
Designs & Inspiration
All cakes are handmade and will never look exactly the same. We do not copy other bakers’ work exactly. Inspiration photos are welcome, but the final product will be our own interpretation. If specific elements are essential, please tell us at the time of booking so this can be discussed.
Complaints
Any complaints must be raised within 24 hours of collection or delivery. At least ¾ of the cake must remain for inspection; otherwise, we are unable to offer a refund or compensation.

Conduct & Behaviour
Abusive, aggressive, or inappropriate behaviour towards Tarnya, Chris, or any member of their household will not be tolerated under any circumstances. This includes abusive language, threats, harassment, or intimidation in person, online, or via messages. Tarnya’s Homemade reserves the right to refuse service or cancel orders if such behaviour occurs.
CCTV & Property Security
Please note that the property, including the Cake Shed area, is protected by 24/7 video and audio CCTV for the safety and protection of both customers and ourselves. By entering the premises, you acknowledge and accept that recording is in place.
Delivery & Unattended Orders
If a delivery has been booked and there is no answer at the delivery address, the order may be left outside the premises only if it has been paid for in advance. Due to time constraints, we cannot guarantee that a re-delivery will be possible on the same day. If payment is due in cash, the order will not be left unattended and delivery may not take place at all. By booking a delivery, you confirm that you or a nominated person will be available to receive the order within the agreed delivery time window. Once an item has been left at the property, responsibility passes to the customer. We cannot be held liable for any loss, theft, damage, or spoilage after the delivery has been completed.
